You make some great points here. Apart from conservatism, it’s a lack of training in basic information design that ails businesses. In my corporate trainings, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the kind of data stories participants put together after just 16 hours of learning, and they do manage to sell it internally.
Well, GoG is one of the ingredients of great data stories. A few more are needed to complete the puzzle, such as the science of encoding, narratives, usability design.
