While it would be great to have one person skilled in all these areas, such folks are an exception than the norm. It is tough to get a data scientist with strong application knowledge of ML. Now, add depth in domain, production pipelines, design & storytelling, and you end up with unfilled positions.

To scale teams, you need specialists in 1 or 2 areas with broad knowledge in the rest. Strong processes, team communication & training can minimize the gaps. That’s been our experience and with many clients, over the years.
