Yes, one can definitely pick up the skill set of domain knowledge and business application. However, this calls for data scientists to be conscious about the need and start working on this gap. Whats worrying is people often don’t realise this and assume that statistics or modeling knowledge is sufficient.

Even if a person doesn’t possess the skill already, as long as they have the awareness and orientation to learn, they should be given a chance.
